I LOVE this Cauliflower General Tao however I would love if it took me less time in the kitchen to make it. I have done exactly that! A crispier outer shell surrounding the cauliflower , no blanching of florets required, less mess, quick and easy!

GENERAL TAO CAULIFLOWER

A crispier outer shell surrounding the cauliflower , no blanching of florets required, less mess, quick and easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 Whole cauliflower head
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1ยฝ cups whole milk ricotta cheeseย ย 
  • โ…” cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 grams blood orangesย ย 

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp dairy free butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh minced ginger
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp corn starch
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  • Separate cauliflower head into floretpieces, rinse and set aside.
  • Into a large bowl, mix flour, milk and saltto create a batter.
  • Coat all florets with the batter and deepfry until crispy (the exterior crust will lookwhite in color), then set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Fry again until very crispy and golden.Once golden, set aside on paper towel toremove excess oil.
  • Into a pot set at medium heat, melt butter,add in minced ginger, minced garlic, cornstarch and whisk until there are no lumps.Add tamari or soy sauce, water, gingerpowder, maple syrup, ketchup and ricevinegar. Bring this mixture to a light boil andmix until sauce is reduced and has a stickyconsistency.
  • Turn off heat and let sauce cool for 3minutes and then coat all your florets withthis sauce.
